Style Rules

It’s that time of year again when you don’t have a free weekend until after New Year. You have invitations to help celebrate a variety of events and probably all you can think is “I’ve got nothing to wear!” The place to start is with the dress code;

Casual – this event is relaxed and almost anything is acceptable but keep in mind your hosts, if they tend to dress up more than down, you’ll want to do that too.

Smart Casual – these functions expect neat informal attire but no denim.

Business - this means you need to be in a well accessorised suit with dress shoes.

Semi Formal or Cocktail - this is the occasion for the little black dress worn with killer heels and sparkly accessories.

Black Tie or Formal – this calls for a long dress, remember understated usually makes the best statement!

White Tie – something we don’t really see in Australia, as they are usually occasions to honor dignitaries like The Queen. If you are attending such an event, a long dress is a must, accessorised with long white gloves.
