This winter loads of retailers are stocking cashmere knits. With such a variety of price points how to tell if you are buying a quality cashmere garment?
The best cashmere comes from the longest fibers found on the underbelly of the goat. So when shopping lightly rub the surface of the knit to see if any fibers shed, this could indicate there might be short haired fiber content. Cashmere should feel soft and light; if the texture feels slippery, it may have been over processed and the garment may lose it shape quickly. Also hold the garment up to the light, uneven patches could also indicate inferior quality.
